When you don’t eat a morning meal, your body goes into a prolonged state of fasting, thinking that you won’t be eating anytime soon. When you finally do eat lunch, your body stores it as fat – because it doesn’t know when you’ll feed it again. Simply put, storing fat leads to weight gain. On the other hand, when you “break the fast” in the morning, your body can use that food to power you through the day.
Eating a healthy breakfast sets the tone for better food choices at other meals. While it may seem like you’re saving calories by skipping breakfast, you’re actually sabotaging yourself to overeat later in the day.
Yes, skip the donuts, skip the pastries, or any cereal that changes the color of your milk, but don’t skip breakfast.
