Great news! Medicare is now covering weight loss counseling with no co-pay for you.
If you are carrying around extra pounds, losing weight and keeping it off can be one of the best things you can do to improve and protect your health – especially in your golden years. As you know, excess weight puts you at risk for health problems like heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, osteoarthritis and a host of other medical complications.
It is without question that America has an obesity epidemic. With more than one out of every three Americans classified as obese, Lovelace Family Medicine is committed to trying to turn this trend around – especially for our patients who are prone to health related issues as a result of obesity. The best way to manage your weight is to eat wise and be as physically active as possible. Who better to help you accomplish this than your family doctor?
Dr. Dixon and Dr. Lovelace are extending a personal invitation for you to join us for the next series of physician based weight management classes designed specifically to meet the needs of our Medicare patients – at no cost to you. Classes are held every Thursday at 12:30 pm. Weekly counseling visits for one month and then biweekly for the remainder of 6 months if your BMI is greater than 30. After 6 months, if you have lost 6.6 pounds, then you may continue with monthly visits until an additional 6 months have lapsed.
Do it for you, do it for your family, or do it just for the health of it!
